The character you control has the job of collecting things and playing smartly. The other character you don't control at any given moment has the job of wasting as much shotgun ammo as possible on the easiest of targets before I can open my menu to make him stop.

Resident Evil Zero is a pre-quel to the Resident Evil 1 remake which covers what Rebecca saw before the mansion incident. There's a bit of a "two characters; one player" theme to it which we'll see more of as the game goes on, but for now I'm just going to start on Hard mode and die a bunch.
