Scrap Mechanic - Creative -14 Gauge twin rail track spacing test. Testing curve spacing.
I have been playing a number of railroad games and wanted to revive some of my Scrap Mechanic railroad ideas. Track spacing makes a big difference for speed and smoothness around corners when using blocks.
I plan to set up a full track over the next few days.
For scale the build is set to 14 Blocks wide. This is limited by suspension and size of small tires for the bogie guides.
Main line straights are planned as 15 blocks wide.
Corners are configured as 114 block diameter internal and 146 block external curve. Giving a target gap of 16 blocks.
The 15 wide straights will allow the train to settle and stop the suspension from bouncing from rail to rail or side to side. The bigger 16 block gap corners is to allow for the bogies to not squeeze on the suspension but to bounce along the out side edge of the corners.

The pivots use a controller (not mentioned in the video) to lock 1 pair of bearings in each connection.
The load is planned as 10 (5 x 2 single layer) fruit crates per car with 2 or 3 cars in train.
Toot Toot.
Looking forward to 2022
