Scrap Mechanic - What is a tile, how big is it, and why does it matter?
In Scrap Mechanic Survival, knowing a little about how the world is made or tiles, or cells. Helps us understand a little more about raids, how your creations are loaded and how to make a mega farm with only a single raid.
Minecraft uses a 16 X 16 wide by X 256 blocks tall system to capture each block called chunks. These chunks are then loaded and unloaded as you move away or closer to the chunk. Centred around the player. Scrap Mechanic does this too. Just the "Chunks" are much bigger 256 X 256 and I don't know how tall. 1024ish? I will call them tiles.
In this video the red frame surrounds 1 Tile. It's surrounded by 8 Tiles making a 3 X 3 Grid - # It is 256 X 256 Blocks in size. You could fit a 85 X 85 Soil plot farm in this one tile and only ever see 1 raid message for all 7,225 soil plots.
I start with 4 Raids in one corner, which then becomes 2, then 2, then 1. For a total of 9 raids one for each tile.
Hope this helps you plan your farm. Or at least help you understand what's going on with the funny raid messages.
