OK, so this is version 3 of a Scud Race Vs Outrun 2 video I've made. The big difference here is that;

1) I'm now using the Japanese version of Outrun 2 on the Xbox. It's a lot more accurate to the arcade original version of Scud Race. There are some significant differences between this version and the western version. The most obvious one's I can think of off the top of my head are the fact that;

□ You've now got planes flying overhead in the 'Beginner Night ' stage part of the course, like in the arcade version of Scud Race. The planes on the ground have also been given a new lick of paint and are multi-coloured rather than the plain white ones in the EU and US versions of Outrun 2.

□ The sailing ship from the 'Beginner Day' stage that was missing in the Western versions has been added back in

□ The torches, in the 'Medium Course' where you go through the tunnel with the big U turn, are now properly lit, unlike the Western version. There's also a bit as you leave that stage area that has a wall with a big hole in it the Western versions. In the Japanese version there's a big idol head type thing, like in the actual Scud Race track.

□ There are probably more differences on top of these, but these are the immediately obvious things. I know there are now certain parts of the track you can now drive on and not lose speed, that you couldn't before... It's a shame they couldn't have started the 'Beginner Day' section off with a Rolling Start in Outrun 2, but I suppose you can't have everything...

2) This video is in 60 frames-per-motherfucking-second! Well, at least 50% of it is. All the Scud Race videos are recorded using Supermodel emulator v0.3 (WIP) SVN 271 at 60 fps.Outrun 2 runs at 60 fps on the original Xbox as well, but I can only do video capture from an external source at 30 fps. The final overall combined video rendering is a 60 fps though and I think this definitely makes the Outrun 2 video look smoother and more 60 fps-like.

3) I finally managed to get 1st place against the Rival CPUs in the Outrun 2 Scud Race track! I gave it my best shot to try and get a 1st on the 'Expert' track in Scud Race to finish off with, but that just wasn't happening...

I've attempted to get the notable sections in the tracks as synced as possible, however, Outrun 2 is actually faster than Scud Race, so it will always keep getting a bit further ahead...

The Ferrari 288 GTO is always my car of choice for the Scud Race bonus stages. It's got very fast acceleration that lets you pull away from the rest of the CPU cars more quickly than most of the other cars (except the Testarossa which seems to have equally fast acceleration), so it means you can quickly pull away from the majority of the AI asshats that will otherwise get right in the fucking way whilst you've making you're first couple of crucial power-slides in the Dolphin tunnel.
