The Seawolf-class submarines, no longer in active production, continue to stand as a testament to the excellence of American submarine engineering. Initially designed to counter the threat of Soviet ballistic missile submarines, they are acclaimed as some of the finest submarines ever built. The original plan was to construct 29 vessels over a decade, but this was eventually reduced to 12, and finally, only three submarines were commissioned.
