In this era of information overload, it is more important than ever to be a critical thinker and consumer of news media. See.Know.Bias is an app for detecting bias in news media, designed to develop media literacy in today’s youth. Unlike other media literacy initiatives, which focus on the sources and evidence behind media information, See.Know.Bias develops a new form of media literacy: the ability to detect bias in how a news article is worded. Built on a dataset of Wikipedia “neutral point of view” edits, See.Know.Bias uses advanced NLP modelling techniques to automatically identify biased sentences in news article and highlight the most biased words. Our model is containerized with Docker, deployed on Azure, and rendered with Dash.
