SegaSonic The Hedgehog
Here is my final video of my trip out to Chicago's Galloping Ghost Arcade, a game I've wanted to play for over 20 years, it's SegaSonic The Hedgehog! This game came out originally in 1993 and despite what I said in the video had a VERY small limited run outside of Japan in a few arcades in Europe and North America.
The game was never translated into English but a while back somebody dug through the game's ROM and found sprites for the Sonic SATAM Dr. Robotonik to replace the Japanese Dr. Eggman sprites.
This game was the first introduction of Mighty and Ray who thankfully have made a comeback in a few games including the amazing Sonic Mania Plus. The game uses a trackball you spin to make your character run and a button to jump through tracks and mazes and try to collect rings and make it to the end without getting killed by tons of traps and hazards.
I'm so glad I was finally able to play a real working arcade board of the game with a trackball rather then a mouse and keyboard on MAME.
Extra special thanks to Doc, Pete Han and the rest of the crew at the Galloping Ghost for having me and also lending me a tripod for the day!
