SEKIRO SHADOWS DIE TWICE | How to beat Folding Screen Monkeys
Sekiro Folding Screen Monkeys- how to find and kill all four folding Screen Monkeys
This is an unusual one: the Screen Monkeys fight is more of a puzzle than a fight, tasking you with finding the four Monkeys in their various hiding places, chasing them down, and killing them in specific ways according to their weaknesses.
There are four Monkeys to find and kill - they only take one or two hits each at most, and won't attack - plus a few spectral grunt monkeys that'll run around and make your life difficult if you stay standing still in one spot for too long. There's a specific way to get them quickly.
1. The invisible Screen Monkey
Walk forward one pace from where you spawn, then stop and immediately turn around and start swinging your sword. The invisible Monkey will be hiding behind you somewhere, amongst the little bells on the ground, on that first platform where you spawn. You'll know when you hit it!
2. The purple robed Screen Monkey
Now, straight away turn back and face the way you were when you spawned in, and grapple up and to the left to the nearby rooftop. Run straight ahead, along the more narrow rooftop, hanging fairly wide to the left - this will avoid you being spotted by the bell Monkey in the center of the area which'll set off the 'alarm' and get all the others moving around.
Jump down onto the steps up ahead, and go into the side of the back building. Immediately grapple upwards and straight ahead twice - onto a beam, then onto the top level, and ahead of you is the purple robe Monkey. Quickly kill it and be ready to go straight onto the next.
3. The green robed Screen Monkey
This one requires you to deafen it. Run back out the way you came from killing Monkey 2 and go down the steps, under the pagoda you'll be jumped off to get there, and turn left onto the bridge. Up ahead on your left is a giant bell, in front of the building where you killed Monkey 2.
Look up, and the third monkey, in a green robe, should be there looking at you. Make sure you lock onto it, then ring the bell, and it'll stun the monkey allowing you to quickly grapple up and Deathblow it.(But I didn't do that.. pufff)
4. The red robed Screen Monkey
From where you killed number 3, use the Illusive Hall Bell item you got when you arrived here (it'll be in your inventory) to teleport back to where you started and reset all the positions of the monkeys that remain. There's just this last Folding Screen one to kill, and you need to sneak up on it to do so.
From the starting position, hang wide left as you did before and work your way all the way round to where you rang the bell, and turn to face the place where you spawn. There'll be a tree in front of you, and on the roof on the other side of that tree, in the middle, is the final Monkey, which'll be facing away from you at this point.
Grapple to the tree, drop into stealth, grapple up to the middle of the roof up ahead, and quickly lock onto and back-stab the Monkey to get the final one.
That'll trigger a cut scene, reward you with the Puppeteer Ninjutsu technique (a valuable one) and another Memory for boosting your Attack Power, as this is a main boss 'fight'. You'll also be teleported to a new location where there's a Sculptor's Idol to rest at - the Senpou Temple - Inner Sanctum idol.
