Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus: Gessen Mission 4-03: Small World (Murakumo VN)
8If there's anything one can know about Murakumo, it's that she's always wearing an ogre mask. This part of Chapter 4 has her open up about the history behind this habit in a Visual Novel segment of her own.
Murakumo was originally part of a very poor family that lived in the slums. She had a neighborhood friend that always joined her family for dinner. This blonde-haired friend quickly became very close to Murakumo in her childhood and they spent a lot of time together despite their seemingly-depressing living conditions.
Things started getting sour for Murakumo back then, when she was told that her parents died. She knew it was because of being murdered by evil shinobi. Murakumo was so devastated by this that she hid her face under a paper bag as a way of hiding her shame from losing her parents.
She was constantly mocked and made fun of for doing this, so in order to not let her be lonely in this new habit, her blonde-haired friend joined in, too, wearing empty bags of bean sprouts over her face. This allowed her to bond with Murakumo even more.
Later on, Kurokage discovered Murakumo and adopted her as one of his own granddaughters, but Murakumo never got to say goodbye to her friend. They would not see each other again for year until Murakumo realized that her friend is now an evil shinobi that she has to face in the Shinobi Battle Royale against the Crimson Squad.
Murakumo's best friend... was now known as Yomi.

As the visual novel segment has shown, Murakumo and Yomi used to be best friends in the slums (which also subsequently means that they both have a strong connection to Ikaruga).
Murakumo couldn't believe that her best friend would fall to the side of evil, because now it meant that she has to kill her regardless of her intentions.
She does somewhat mock Yomi for things she knows of her in their childhood, however. Apparently, Yomi sucks her thumb in bed, or how she always needed Murakumo to guide her to the bathroom. Yomi's nervousness on this makes it seems like she still does these things even as a teenager, and part of that may be because of her big appetite.
No matter what embarrassing things Yomi has or still has, she and Murakumo will still have a fight between good and evil shinobi, even if it means completely erasing their friendship.

For Mission 4-03, use Murakumo to fight through a bunch of lesser shinobi, then beat Yomi after she shows up.

Murakumo defeats Yomi, and still can't believe that best friends had to clash swords in battle like this. Yomi believes in friends being able to make their own life choices, even if it conflicts with each other's. However, despite their battle, Yomi still considers Murakumo her dearest friend.
After Yomi opens her heart to Murakumo, Murakumo does the same. So much so, that she even takes off her ogre mask to express her own feelings towards Yomi. She still considers her her best friend, as well, no matter what side of good and evil they're on.
It is because of this that Murakumo completely discards her plans to kill Yomi. Because why would she want to kill her loving friend and dearest sister-in-arms?
