SEQUENCE BREAK! Mt. Sabre North WAY EARLY in Crystalis (NES) - A Wild Glitch Appears! #crystalis
768In Crystalis for the NES, there's a fairly simple glitch you can exploit to access Mt. Sabre North WAY before you're supposed to. Usually, you need to trigger the even where the people of Leaf are kidnapped before you can go there, but it turns out you can just FORGET ALL THAT!
In the Cordel Plains side of the path to Mt. Sabre North, there will be an invisible barrier that prevents you from going to Mount Sabre North until you have the Teleport spell.
However, if you equip the Rabbit Boots and a pair of Warp Boots, then get close to the left side of the invisible barrier's trigger box, you can jump UP and RIGHT then immediately hit B to open up the Warp Boots teleportation menu.
At this point, simply press B and Select at the same time at a slow and steady rhythm - I find it helps to press them firmly for a solid half-second rather than tap them.
If you do it correctly, your character will slowly inch toward the top boundary of the screen, and eventually you will be close enough that you can close any menus and you will pass to the next screen!
Now in this next screen on Mt. Sabre North, there's yet ANOTHER invisible barrier that prevents you from proceeding upwards. However, this invisible barrier is actually TWO separate trigger boxes that have just enough space between them for your character to fit through!
If you line the very edge of your shadow up with a protruding rock from the cliff as shown, you can walk straight up and pass right through the invisible barrier. You have maybe one to three pixels of wiggle room here, so it's not even THAT difficult. Keep trying, you can do it!
Anyway, performing these major skips allows you to bypass the event where the villagers of leaf are kidnapped, which means you don't have to find that shortcut path in Mt. Saber South, and you don't have to go through Zebu's Cave to get back to Leaf!
