-Map Review-
When the elevator moved sam down, I was absolutely TAKEN aback by the details presented. Honestly it was a huge WOW moment for me. I had to question if I was still playing fusion anymore. The game was transformed into something completely else and it was just awe inspiring! They've turned HD into 4k and High detail to Ultra Ultra high. O: Really, Aesthetics = 100%+.
Good immersions. One cutscene is broken (same cutscene plays again next level so dw).
The playthrough was pretty nice. I think the author LOVED spamming enemy spawns. as Heck there's a very unusually much amount of enemies spawned during each encounter. Something which is not often a feature in many maps I've played. While it's good, it really bumped the difficulty high and at multiple point felt like a bullet time shooter.
I was not too fond of the kamikaze/gizmo spams since they were constantly spammed, but at the first two instances they were pretty novel and entertaining. Definitely sand canyon gone wild.
Also: I see that razzing between the map authors lol. be nice to eachother lmao.
-Campaign Review-
Crystal Impact is a very compelling mappack resulting from the Khreth's Mapping Competition. Officially endorsed by Croteam, the mappack pulls punches beyond what the Serious Engine 3 normally advertised itself as. The mappack hits hard in aesthetics and t r a n s f o r m s the game into something of a huge eyecandy. With levels made from multiple really talented people, I genuinely found the mappack to be a great treat.
Though with that said, as every map was made by different people, each level does have its own uh theme. and the style is never really too consistent. Some levels feel like campaigns, some feels like pre-arrangements of lots of assets, whilst others feel like survival maps. Irregardless of that, the mappack is ultimately tied together really nicely and I love it. The plot is good, and there's always hints and messages which give lore and content. See, when the level shines, it absolutely pushes the engine to its creative limits which is just Awe aspiring.Good Work authors
A lot of the custom enemies appear in the mappack and I have to say they are VERY unique. And It's so nice to see enemies from the original game clad to the theme, like the headmen which shoot bows or the guffy's which lob medieval canonballs instead of future projectiles.
