In all seriousness, Stellar Blade seems decent enough from the demo, even despite me generally not being a fan of souls-like games. The fact that it lets you *actually pause the fvcking game* is a huge win.

Anyway, in spite of its obvious inspiration from NieR: Automata, it's essentially in appearance only. Stellar Blade plays practically nothing like NieR. It's more like Sekiro, Nioh, Steelrising, Lies of P, etc., except with gratuitous eye candy and silly mid-2000's jiggle physics. So, if you're hoping for an easy walk in the park while enjoying the sights, you're probably going to be sorely disappointed.

I played on standard difficulty and after getting my a$$ whooped multiple times trying to play it like NieR, I sat down and focused on the timing of parrying and dodging (core souls mechanics). The game has a training room which is super helpful. Once things "clicked" for me, the game became much more manageable and enjoyable from there. If you try to button mash, you're gonna have a bad time, mmmkay?

That being said, the game does have a "story mode" if you're finding it too difficult. I'd advise against it so you can improve, but at the end of the day nobody really cares. If playing on story mode is what makes you happy, then go for it. No judgment from me. Who am I to judge anyway? I literally just uploaded a video full of digital t & a. 😆
