Robocop [Arcade by Data East, 1988] is a beat 'em up / run and gun video game based on the 1987 film of the same name.
It was one of the first arcade games to use digitized sound samples. This allowed the game to feature realistic audio clips from the movie, including RoboCop's iconic phrases and various sound effects. This innovation in audio technology contributed to the immersive experience of the game and helped set a new standard for arcade games of that era.
The gameplay is similar to Data East's arcade game Bad Dudes Vs. DragonNinja, released earlier the same year. Robocop includes elements from both beat 'em up and run and gun video games.
