A short tutorial how to skip battle 39 in Shining Force 2, the Hydra Battle. Basically, the treeline acts as a trigger for the Hydra battle. Despite any end-battle animation, Bowie's position is remembered as his final position during the battle. If we end the battle with Bowie below the treeline, then we can skip the Hydra battle entirely.

The next step includes grabbing the Force Sword and then Egressing back to the Galam Priest and walaa, you can go directly to Zeon and the final few battles. Even with how short the Hydra battle is (2 rounds) the amount of time saved with dialogue versus a simple Egress and some walking is quite helpful.
