FULL DETAILS/EXPLANATION BELOW!

YAHOO back for another lesson in Saikyo! In this little tutorial we are looking at Dan's "frame-traps".
What is a "frame-trap"? Basically a frame-trap is when you leave a small gap in your attacks where if your opponent tries to push a button they will lose to your button(s). You can frame-trap with throws as well as attacks. The only way out of frame-traps is via invincible attacks (e.g. EX SRK), armoured attacks (providing armour is active on or before attack) or the new V-Shift.
What is a "true block string"? It is when you string 2 or more attacks together and your opponent has no choice but to block them all before they are able to more or attack again. During a "true block string" you will still have to block correctly (e.g. blocking low vs low hitting attacks). The only way out of a true block string is with V-Reversal.

Using the s.LP example (+3 on block). That means that Dan recovers 3-frames sooner than his opponent. Dan's s.MP is 6-frame start-up and throw is 5-frame start-up. So if perfectly timed s.MP comes out on the 3rd frame his opponent has recovered (-3+6=3) and throw comes out on the 2nd frame (-3+5=2).
Sakura's c.LP is 3-frame start-up. Dan's throw is active sooner than Sakura's c.LP so it will "win" and Sakura will get thrown. If they were active on the same frame then Dan's throw would still win as throws beat attacks when active on the same frame.
Dan's s.MP is active on the same frame as Sakura's c.LP however Dan wins and scores a counter-hit as stronger attacks have priority over weaker attacks if active on the same frame. For attacks of the same strength that are active on the same frame they would trade and both players would get hit.

Using the s.HP xx V-Triger example (+11 on block). That means that Dan recovers a massive 11-frames sooner than his opponent! b+HK is an 11-frame move and therefore is active on frame 0 of Sakura's original recovery. As Sakura has not yet recovered she has no option but to block the b+HK (other than use V-Reversal).
In order to turn the true block string into a frame-trap you need to delay the b+HK, also can't delay for more than 3-frames (vs Sakura) as then run the risk of her c.LP interrupting you.
The other thing to take into account is that V-Trigger cancel gives your opponent quite a lot of time to think and react to be prepaired for an invincible reversal if you try to frame-trap.

Hope this video has been fun and educational!
Next time I want to look into fully charged Haoh Gadoken (VT1) setups!
