Shadow World by Mike Potter is one of several excellent games released by Synapse Software for Atari 8-bit in the early 1980s. An excellent showcase of the Atari 8-bit's gaming chops thanks to its speedy smooth scrolling and myriad on-screen enemies, it's an entertaining twist on the Defender formula and a stiff challenge for shoot 'em up fans. Played here on The400 Mini.
