The movie, which kicks off Phase 4 of the all-conquering Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe, is due to drop in September. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, from a screenplay by David Callaham, Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Lanham, it’s set to be a mystical martial arts thrill ride full of killer visuals, starring Simu Liu as the titular Shang-Chi…

And Tony Leung as The Mandarin, who we’re going to be talking about today.

The Mandarin first appeared in the fiftieth issue of Tales of Suspense in 1964, which is so long ago we can’t even comprehend it. He was created by Stan Lee and artist Don Heck, and goes by a few aliases, including Wenwu, Arnold Brock and Shin Zhang.

The character has been through some changes since his debut, but has spent most of his comics career as a foe for the likes of Shang-Chi and Iron Man. As well as being a skilled martial arts expert, he has access to some extremely impressive powers.

In this video, we’re going to be looking at those formidable abilities of his, the oh-so-stylish rings that they derive from, and exactly what each one entails.
