Web culture pioneer and author Howard Rheingold interviews digital learning innovator Shelly Terrell to learn more about the concept and practice of "personal learning networks."
"A personal learning network consists of all of the people that you choose, when you're online, to connect with and learn from," Terrell explains. "It's a community where you participate and others participate and the learning happens together. Let's say, for example, a student wants to be an engineer. Instead of reading about being an engineer, instead of reading about biographies and things like that, they can actually ask questions from an engineer. And the engineer will be able to give expert advice or experience."
Shelly is an education activist and renowned international speaker who focuses on giving a voice to passionate teachers and their innovative education ideas. She is also a Founder of the popular, ongoing Twitter hashtag trend #Edchat.
