In today's short, taken from the full video, I talk about what Shenmue's technological leap meant compared to games of the same era and how it surprised the entire gaming world.
Shenmue was a game that marked a before and after, despite its short life and poor sales. The Sega game created by Yu Suzuki for Dreamcast confirmed for me, a kid who didn't even understand the language the game was in, that this wasn't just another release.
Over time, the ambitious nature of the game for its time has become clearer. It's even been crowned the most influential game in video game history according to the BAFTAs.
In this video, I tell you what made me fall in love with it and why I think it's such a special title.
