SHERIFF RAZZLE SHOOTOUT || Lethal Enforcers II: Gun Fighters || Arcade Appreciation #4 (Arcade/MAME)
Today on #4 we're upping the score with Konami's 1994 Lethal Enforcers 2: Gun Fighters. This is a game that I feel is *vastly* superior to the original Lethal Enforcers, taking players to the Old West to stop a (rather large) gang of outlaws complete with skill shooting, akimbo six shooters, and even a stand off against three quick drawing gunmen (*SIX* gunmen if you do two players). Though the graphics are a little tweaky on MAME, it's a fun time nonetheless!
Fun fact: This game is known as "Lethal Enforcers 2: The Western" in Japan, and some versions of the game (such as the Japanese Version) use a stage select rather than just playing through all the levels in order.
Much like Lethal Enforcers, players start off with a Six-Shooter revolver but additional guns can be uncovered and used, such as a .50 Caliber Sharp, Rifle, Double Rig (Akimbo Revolvers, basically), Gatling Gun, and even a FRIGGIN CANON. It is also possible to rank up as well in this game by shooting bad guys and getting high accuracy scores - you'll even be complimented for some "pretty fine shootin', son" if you get high accuracy marks. Plug innocents and you'll not only lose a life - you'll also be demoted.
The game also of course received home ports, namely on Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, Sega CD/Mega Drive CD, and along with Lethal Enforcers on the Lethal Enforcers I & II set for the Playstation. Unlike Lethal Enforcers it didn't quite get the levels of notoriety that its precursor got.
