1This is a long game and this is part 2 of a 13 part playthrough.
One of the critical things to realize is that rank is attached to the city the army comes from, so you need to build up two or three armies to prevent invasions and the stymying of your plans. When you take over a new territory the rank of your conquering army overwrites the city's original rank. Though I allow Shinano to be taken this year, I lose almost nothing doing it and by consolidating my forces I am able to focus on learning the systems and better understanding the game.
