Shiny roaming Entei found in Route 7!! LIVE! - Pokémon LeafGreen
19In this video, I show the start of this quest, a short video of the accidental Phase that I had and the live encounter with this shiny roaming Entei that ends this quest. This time, I brought with me a Starmie with the ability Illuminate, in addition to a Primeape with the ability Vital Spirit, since I found out that this ability also increases the chance of finding wild Pokémon at a highest level in the zone that it's encountered to 50 % chance. However, while I'm writing this, I just discovered that this only works from Pokémon Emerald onwards 😅.
This quest started after the video trying the Trainer Tower for the first time in Pokémon LeafGreen.
STORY BEHIND THIS QUEST
My goal, as in the shiny roaming Suicune quest, would be to record 15 soft resets per recording session, 60 soft resets a day. And if I had lucky to successfully record 15 soft resets and have enough battery to record more encounters, I would make extra soft resets and keep the account of these extra soft resets, for when I would miss a recording session someday or have a bad recording session later on. However, I had two worrying problems since the first day, the first one was that when my laptop's battery reached at 25%, the video codec that I use to record videos started to overcharge affecting the videos causing freezing pixels and thus, loss of synchronization of the video and audio, reducing the recording time left as a result too. The second one was that my laptop's performance got worse at that point and sometimes, some of my recording sessions lasted in a good time but other times not. I was really worried about this and I had to deal with it, until one day I solved the problem by coincidence. Although, I was still having the other problem. Until one day, I started to take more good care of my laptop's and my cellphone's batteries. I stopped charging my laptop's battery up to 100%. Since then, I noticed that my recording sessions lasted better most of the time.
During the quest, I recorded most of the soft resets, but also risked myself doing soft resets off camera and sometimes, soft resets without checking if roaming Entei's shininess. All to keep the 15 soft reset average per recording session. I also had a Phase during this quest. I have been recording all the videos of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky during this quest. To not lose the goal in every reacording session, I had to record those videos while recharging battery knowing that this could reduce my laptop's life battery.
When I reached 10,000 soft resets, as in the shiny roaming Suicune quest, I decided to not having to do 15 soft resets as the goal in every recording session unless I had 2 or 3 soft resets left. This meant that I would do less soft resets off camera and even less soft resets without checking the roaming Pokémon shininess. In fact, since then afterwards, I only made 1 soft reset without checking if Entei was shiny or not and it was by mistake. My 60 soft reset average a day was kept, but my accumulated extra soft resets reduced from 75 to 65 on the last days.
Just when I finally found it, I wasn't paying attention at the screen in that moment and I didn't realized that I found it until I saw its colors and sparkles. I was doing the last recording session of the day, watching Detective Conan, episode 337. I started recording later than usual and forgot that my laptop's was charging when I was entertained with my cellphone on my bed. The battery reached at 100%. At the beginning, I was thinking on making the first 2 encounters off camera while waiting the battery to reach 95%, but since it was late and knowing it would still last short time anyways, I decided to record from 98% battery and record all the resets I could.
There is also one last thing I must say, when I reached 10,095 soft resets, I'm not totally sure if it was then, I started doing encounters with Pokémon from Route 7 on purpose while wathcing Crayon Shin-chan not-aired content in Spain. Only after the recording sessions. In order to increase the chance of finding shiny roaming Entei, indirectly. I knew I was risking to encounter any shiny Pokémon in the route but I couldn't help myself, since I can't watch anime or TV without doing something apart at the same time :P. At first, I only planned to do only 1800 encounters which is equal to 1 month in the shiny roaming Entei quest, but ended up doing 5106 encounters in the end which is equal to almost 3 months in the quest. The account is not exact but is very aproximated.
