This was the second ever original song we wrote and recorded. With Adrian being a prominent Johnny Cash admirer we couldn't help giving in to our desires of making a song like this. Not so much a country song but more of a Western epic. This would also have been the birth of our 'Something different every time' concept as it followed our first song, being the slower ballad original, 'Barren Lands'.
Lyrics time!
Once there was a boy and he was from a broken town
Surviving off the land turning water blue from brown
Fingers hard as rock
And the Wisdom of a man three times his age
One day a wagon toed him deep into the desert sands
Abandoned, wrecked and shirtless
To die upon the land
But the heavens had a different plan
He was to live to make a change some day
And he sang
Ooooh (x3)
The harshest years would pass him by
No friend to call his own
No horse-back, crow or cactus seemed to care he was alone
But THAT day came and changed the way
That all the people saw him from then on
*ROCK BIT*
A misty day was all around when, in swung the bar door
He looked only at the counter top, as he
Walked across the floor
He said "Barkeep! I'll have one to go and please,
Don't ask me if I want to stay"
The Barkeep looked him up and down and,
Much to his dismay
Now this man must be the Wanderer
Who, other travellers say
"He's on foot walkin' town to town
He gets a drink and then heads on his way"
Before the drink had left his hand a gun shot filled the room
Some bandits too big for their boots and
Smiles that signalled doom
To bad the Wanderer had a place to be its
Back outside and, these boys in his way
A scream was heard, a shattered glass and
Chaos was it's name
But the Wanderer stayed on his stool no
Interest in the game
Till a man had grabbed him, by the back
And through him in the centre of it all
*Another ROCK BIT*
No seconds past before the stranger bent onto one knee
He drew his pistol shot six times
It ended suddenly
He refused to fall
And he stood tall
And left to answer his abandoned call
And he sang
Ooooh (x6)
