Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is a first-person action game that focuses on cooperative play, developed by Fatshark. It is the sequel to the 2015 game, which was released for PC and Xbox One. The main game includes 13 missions, over 20 different opponent kinds, and over 50 different weaponry. Missions may be completed on four different levels of difficulty, with the Winds of Magic DLC introducing a fifth. Set in the fictitious setting of Warhammer Fantasy, players work together to defeat the Chaos army and a species of rat-men known as the Skaven. There are five distinct characters to play as in the game. After completing tasks, players obtain prizes via a randomized loot system.

As you complete Missions, you will get Experience Points (XP) and level up the Hero you used. Higher hero levels grant access to new Careers and Talents. Each hero has a maximum level of 35 beyond which they can still earn levels. Each subsequent level grants a Commendation Chest but does not boost hero strength.

Illusions are a cosmetic enchantment that can occasionally be found on Weapons. Red weapons have distinct names and are typically more spectacular, with a teal glow in the details. Portraits are required for each career, however they may be utilized by any hero or career. They are in-game prizes such as promotional material like the Collector's Edition Upgrade.

Warhammer Vermintide 2 chronicles the Heroes of Ubersreik from their initial encounter with Clan Fester's Skaven hordes and their new allies, the Rotbloods. The expansion Winds of Magic also introduces the Beastmen, a herd of Chaos-mutated humanoids on the hunt for the Herdstone. A Chaos Warband dedicated to Nurgle, the Chaos God of Disease and Decay, is also introduced in this expansion.

Grey Seer Rasknitt successfully captured the five Heroes of Ubersreik following the events of the first round. When the Skittergate fails to function again, the ensuing destruction liberates one of the heroes. Reunited, the heroes and their friends fight together to defeat Skaven and Chaos's combined armies. They begin by assassinating the sorcerer lord Burblespue Halescourge, who intended to carry out a spell that would unleash a terrible epidemic on Helmgart.They then battle Skaven warlord Skarrik Spinemanglr, who has established up a stronghold in a ruined dwarf keep. The lair and its defences crumble, and the heroes flee to safety.

In August 2018, two new missions were made available to players who purchased the "Shadows over Bögenhafen" DLC. The second DLC, "Back To Ubersreik," was published in December 2018 and features four new missions and five new weapons. In honor of the game's one-year anniversary in March 2019, an extra objective called "A Quiet Drink" was made available for free.

The game's first official expansion, "The Winds of Magic," was published in August 2019 for PC but postponed for consoles. It included six new opponent types and a new faction, the Beastmen, who are looking for a relic known as the "Herdstone".

"The Chaos Wastes" was the game's fourth major expansion. It included five new weapons, sixteen new maps, and a new roguelike game style. The plot revolves around the Ubersreik Five's trip into Chaos's main headquarters. The majority of the material is free for game owners, with just the weaponry being purchased DLC.

Each profession includes two new weapons, one new ability, and a skill tree. Markus Kruber's melee-focused "Grail Knight" class was launched in June 2020, followed by Bardin's crank-gun-wielding "Outcast Engineer" class in November 2020. In December 2021, Saltzpyre's divinely-protected "Warrior Priest" class will be launched.
