Should you install the latest SparkyLinux update? Here's what to know first.
8In This Video We Are Looking At SparkyLinux is a lightweight, Debian based distribution which is available in several editions. The project's latest release is from its semi-rolling branch. "This is an update of Sparky semi-rolling ISO images of the Debian Testing line, which provides fixed CLI Installer issue of installing Sparky on Btrfs and XFS filesystems, package updating as usually, and new features. Main changes: all packages upgraded from Debian and Sparky testing repos as of February 11, 2024. Linux kernel 6.6.13 (6.7.4, 6.6.16-LTS, 6.1.77-LTS, 5.15.148-LTS in Sparky repos). GRUB 2.12. Pipewire 1.0.3. Sparky CLI installer changes: added XFS and Btrfs filesystems back to the installer; the last issue did not let you install Sparky on the file systems properly, course the GRUB booloader can’t be installed on the mentioned file systems. Now, the CLI installer has an option to choose additional ~500MB /boot partition which is auto-formatted to ext4, so Sparky can be boot fine.

The 2024.02 version of Debian GNU /Linux-based Polish distribution SparkyLinux has been announced. 6.6. In the new version, which is the second update of the system in 2024, which is configured on 13 Linux kernels and provides updated packages from Debian “trixie” and Sparky “sisters” test repositories, as of February 11, 2024, all packages have been upgraded from Debian and Sparky test repositories. While it is stated that it is possible to obtain 6.7.4, 6.6.16-LTS, 6.1.77-LTS, 5.15.148-LTS kernels in Sparky repositories, it is said that the Pipewire sound server has been updated to version 1.0.3. In the system that comes with Grub 2.12, xfs and btrfs file systems have been added back to the installer. The CLI installer is now said to have an option to select an additional ~500MB /boot partition that is automatically formatted as ext4. While the developers updated the Sparky Locker desktop screen locker to start automatically; The way the Yad window is closed for Sparky APTus, Sparky Welcome, and Sparky USB Imager is said to have been changed and improved to prevent other Yad-based applications from being terminated.
