Showcase: Serious Sam 2 - Top-down, Multi-weapon Hoverfighter
This showcases a few things:
1. Top-down perspective [Modification]
Self-explanatory. Since you're technically aiming downwards all the time, the shooting events for the hoverfighter have to be set to only fire straight from the barrels, and the shots generally have to have "Horizontal Projectile" checked. Unfortunately, to get the camera angle, it requires modifying one of the main .rsc files for the game... which nobody else does nowadays anyways. :P
2. Multiple Firing Modes [Macro]
Normally, ridden characters can only be commanded to execute up to two different shooting and/or melee events by the player, via the Primary and Secondary bindings. Here, I've made it so Secondary fire changes what Primary will do when executed, effectively allowing an unlimited amount of Primary firing modes.
3. Laser Beams [Macro]
The unfortunate part about SS2's projectiles is that they don't allow for "fluid" collision, as in, projectiles that damage but don't collide. I've found a way around that via macro. Note that the damage is caused via macro, and therefore isn't registered to the player. It is, however, be possible to discriminate which characters the damage is applied to... which is why the hoverfighter itself takes no damage from the beams.
4. No-flip Hoverfighter [Modification]
While there's really no instance in the video where a normal hoverfighter would flip over and eject the player, it's all but impossible for that to happen to this hoverfighter.
As well, I'm using a variant of my Simba Doll Angel model.
