Shrek Forever After: The Game (iOS Longplay, FULL GAME, No Commentary)
821Released in 2010 for iOS, Shrek Forever After is an action-adventure game developed by Gameloft, based on the animated film of the same name. Following the movie’s storyline, players guide Shrek through an alternate version of Far Far Away, battling enemies and solving puzzles to undo Rumpelstiltskin’s magic and reclaim his old life.
The gameplay takes heavy inspiration from the Crash Bandicoot series, featuring linear, forward-scrolling levels with platforming and enemy encounters. While the concept had potential, Shrek Forever After suffers from stiff controls, uninspired level design, and repetitive gameplay.
Still, I had a fun time playing through this, as I often do. I ended up smashing through the entire game in a single sitting and was enjoying the time I had, despite its low-quality look and feel. Definitely not one of Gameloft's greats, but also still during the era before micro-transactions plagued every one of their games, so I can't complain there!
