Long ago, the world of Ardemia was invaded by a nigh-unstoppable being known as Aklor. It was only the appearance of a heroine named Kailee Shrine and her mysterious weapon that brought Aklor and his conquest to an end. But now Aklor and his forces are back, and Kailee Shrine's weapon has been split into pieces. Will her descendant, Rio Shrine, and his new companion Reima Narone be able to gather the scattered elemental gems and make the Sword of Shrine whole again?

I certainly hope so, but we won't find out in this video! This is a look at the demo of Shrine's Legacy, a retro-inspired RPG by Positive Concept Games that draws from Secret of Mana and classic Legend of Zelda games while bring new ideas and a strong story with unique and interesting characters. The magic system in particular is something new and different from games of the past, with each element having both unique in-combat effects and uses to solve puzzles (or otherwise interact with the environment, like using the fire element to burn a grass where enemies are standing to take them down before they even know you're there). And while it's not shown off in this video, there's a two-player option, which can be played locally or through Steam Remote Play if both players have a good internet connection. The devs are also wanting to add a built-in online multiplayer sometime in the future, but the focus is on finishing the main game for now and any online multiplayer option would come sometime later on.
