The Proton is a base model for heavier variants such as the Proton H heavy capable of round trips to the Mun and one-ways to Duna, the Proton T transport capable of transporting 3 Kerbals to Minmus, the Mun, or your local space station, and the Proton U utility craft capable of multiple specialized roles with various attachment modules.
