Around 14 hours 37 minutes to beat the hardest mode, Beyond Mode. The default difficulty mode took me around 2 hours 38 minutes, so this mode was MUCH harder. There is alot more enemy and projectile density, possibly faster projectiles and enemies and the stages require 1200 meter travel distance to complete, which is a decent length increase, since there are no checkpoints in any of the stages. There are bosses at the end of a few stages, but they are treated as thier own seperate stages, so you can start at those. For the secret final boss there is a checkpoint for the second form, where the background changes, however it does not save, as I learned the hard way, so you have to keep the game on to preserve that checkpoint. You have infinite continues and there are health replenishments in some of the stages as well as shield power ups, though they mostly appear at random, if at all. Since boss fights count as stages you can select them from the stage select menu when you exit the game and return to it. This applies to the secret final boss too, just not his second form, so I left my PC on when I got back to him again.

Deaths are edited out. While some of the harder stages took me between 40-63 minutes each, the part that gave me the most trouble was that Secret Final Boss. I spent maybe 6-7 hours on the first form and over 2 hours on the final form. Probably 8-9 hours total just on that final boss. I had to re-beat the first form when it didnt save my checkpoint. The platforms and many other elements are randomized, so that means I couldnt memorize exact movement patterns for the fight. The same applies to the stages as they are randomized, but there are certain obstacle layouts that repeat, so you can get better at predicting them with practice. I thought that the Chaos Emeralds moved randomly but I found out how to manipulate them for that final form, which I will detail in this tutorial.

The way I unlocked the Secret Final Boss was an accident. I was trying to avoid these keys in the desert stage since they brought me to a much harder coin collecting stage, which required collecting 100 coins to end the stage, rather than distance travelled. The stage also has no power ups or health replenishments. In the end I decided it was more annoying to keep trying to avoid the keys, so I completed that "secret" stage. This was what unlocked the secret final boss, which is extremely difficult on this mode.

A few things I forgot to mention in the tutorial :

The flame shield nullifies any damage from the Sun enemy and all fire, I believe.

This game is Keyboard only with no controller support. You can use Xpadder, Joy2Key or a similiar program to map the keyboard keys to the controller. I used a controller called Flydigi Apex 4 which allowed me to map all keyboard keys to the controller, using the controller APP. Its also a great controller so it will be very good for these types of Keyboard Only games in the future. I avoid using a keyboard to play games whenever possible.

In order to avoid the keys in the desert level you can exit the game (hold escape) , then re enter through the usual stage select, which allows you to enter any stage you made it to. You can start the desert level over this way if you dont want to fight the secret final bosses, as they are MUCH harder than anything else on this mode.
