You can change Henry's starting point inside The Room by choosing to "Continue" from the main menu repeatedly and slowly moving/turning to a direction while the game is loading (I think the critical part of the trick is right before the game screen turns visible).

After 20 minutes of restarts and continues you see the result that is captured here on video: Henry starts from near the item box instead
of near the save point.

So what's the use of this tactic? In theory doing it shouldn't waste any in-game time, so in a crazy in-game time speedrun you'd move inside the room using this tactic as often as possible to save a minute or even two. Also, you are able to bypass triggers with this tactic. For instance, after the nightmare room intro, you are able to move over continues past the phone cutscene trigger. However, this is useless because the phone is among the things you need to check before the first hole appears in your room.
