0Hinako, who lives in the town of Ebisugaoka, hates her abusive father and resents her obedient mother, who allows him to do whatever he wants with them. She rejects gender roles and acts more like a man, to the chagrin of her parents and some friends. She has a low opinion of herself, writing in her diary, "There's nothing special about me." Hinako adores her older sister, trusting her and considering her a protector. Over time, her older sister married and moved away, leaving her in a house she detests. Hinako has been friends with Shu since childhood, as well as the lively Sakuko from a family of temple priests and the shy Rinko. Soon, their house is suddenly enveloped in an ominous fog and crimson growths resembling veins. The town turns into a nightmarish, yet unforgettable "beautiful" place. Monsters appear on the streets, residents disappear, and friends are separated. Now the heroine must find out what happened and how her biography and the lifestyle of the people of Ebisugaoka are related to it.
