387It would seem that electric support systems for a bicycle are already well established: this is a motor-wheel, a central motor that turns the transmission and systems that rotate the wheel through friction. But no, the English company Skarper has introduced another option for fast electric conversion for a bicycle. The technology is called DiskDrive and it spins the rear wheel through a brake disc.
The electric drive system from Skarper is quick-detachable, mounted on the left chainstay of the bicycle frame. True, the rear brake rotor must first be replaced with a proprietary one. The entire system can be quickly removed with a lever to charge the built-in battery. The total weight of the device is only 3.3 kg.
The device with DiskDrive technology is unitary, in one case there are:
-BC electric motor 250 W
-Lithium battery 202 Wh
-Rear red light
-Status indicators
-Brake disc drive system
-Control sensors
The maximum speed with electric assistance is 32 km/h, the built-in battery lasts up to 60 km of pedaling support, and it charges in just 2.5 hours.
To efficiently distribute the power of the motor, Skarper added proprietary Dynamic Climb™ technology. The bottom line is tracking readings from sensors (speed, acceleration, slope) and an algorithm for effective motor assistance.
The novelty will appear on sale next year, the estimated price will be 1220 US dollars.
