Skippy and company are headed south, chasing after the artifact sword, and with the whole band back together! Unfortunately, they're unable to get into the south without being able to planeswalk. The masked guy from the game's intro tells them to go and retrieve an artifact that will allow them to do that - the Deathheart.

On the nose, maybe?

So they head down a mine in search of this artifact, only to run into corrupted versions of the monsters they've hunted before.
