1. Keyboard controls

Right - move right
Left - move left
Up - go upstairs in direction of movement
Down - go downstairs in direction of movement

F = shoot catapult
H = hit
J = jump
S = sit down / stand up
W = write (blackboards only)

2. General tips

- don't miss any chance to hit the shields in the exam room (unless you have hit all of them already)
- try to make Mr Creak's classes as smooth and fast as possible, for progress you need info given in the class, specifically the battle that took place in the year he was born. So don't mess with Einstein, don't shoot Mr Creak, hit Boy Wonder to keep him from shooting Mr Creak, take a seat early, don't interrupt Einstein.

3. Hitting the shields

As soon as the game starts don't waste any time and try to hit all shields. The shields in the exam room are the hardest to get because you need other persons in the room to get them. So you might want to check that out first.

3.1 Top floor shields

By simple jumping [ J ] you can reach the 2 shields in the little staff room on the left, the 2 shields in the reading room at center and the shield right of the map room on the top floor.

3.2 Ground floor shields

Also easy to hit are the left-most and right-most shields on the ground floor as you can hit them by shooting [ F ] from the left and right stairs.

For hitting the remaining four shields you need to shoot [ F] a teacher to make him sit on the floor with his head exactly below a shield, then shoot [ F ] a second time to hit his head from which the projectile deflects off just to hit the shield above.

3.3 Exam room shields

The exam room shields can be hit via deflection from a teacher's head too. Another option is to hit a schoolmate [ H ] or shoot him down [ F ] below a shield, then stand next to him, jump on him [ J ] and the jump again [ J ] to reach the shield. For this you need to be quick you need timing. This option exists when boys are in the room for classes or when Boy Wonder goes there to write on the blackboard.

Once you've hit all the shields there's an audio "alert" and you can move to the next task.

4. Getting the code for the safe

The code for the safe are four letters of which one appears above each Mr Whacker, Mr Rockitt & Mr Withit when they've been shot [ F ] and one more letter appears above Mr Creak when he reads his year of birth.

The latter is a rather difficult task: First attend Mr Creaks class and make sure it proceeds as fast as possible (don't mess with Einstein, don't shoot Mr Creak, hit Boy Wonder to keep him from shooting Mr Creak, take a seat early, don't interrupt Einstein). At some point Mr Creak will ask which battle took place the year he was born and Einstein will give the answer. Since the battles are really historic events with years associated correctly you can easily conclude the year from the name of the battle. Alternatively you can wait till in any lesson Mr Creak will ask in which year that specific battle took place and Einstein answers with the correct year. But since there are 20+ battles, history lessons are rare and questions seem to be completely random you would have to play for a long time for this event to occur.

As soon as you have the year of Mr Creak's birth try to write [ W ] it on any clean blackboard and monitor Mr Creak's walk through he building. Whenever he enters a room with the correct year written on the blackboard his code letter will appear.

5. Open the safe in the 1st floor staff room

Once you have all four letters write [ W ] combinations of them on all empty blackboards. Mr Whacker's letter is always first, so there are only 6 possible combinations:

Whacker | Creak | Rockitt | Withit
Whacker | Creak | Withit | Rockitt
Whacker | Rockitt | Creak | Withit
Whacker | Rockitt | Withit | Creak
Whacker | Withit | Creak | Rockitt
Whacker | Withit | Rockitt | Creak

As soon as you have one or more written on blackboards you can go to the bigger staff room on the first floor and reach the safe by jumping [ J ]. Whenever you do so and a correct combination was written on a blackboard an audio event will confirm the success.

6. All the shields again

After the safe has be opened the only task left to do is to hit all shields again (see above) and when done a little text message will confirm that you've finished the term and move to the next year. And that's where the game becomes really repetitive ;)
