Skyrim 100% Maximized Legendary Playthrough - 304. Raldbthar
Today we're off to the Dwemer ruin of Raldbthar for the quests Mourning Never Comes as well as Lost to the Ages. We head to the Great Lift at Raldbthar we unlocked ages ago while exploring Blackreach, which lies very close to the main entrance. There are just a few bandits on the outside to fumigate before heading in.
Inside, the first half of the first zone is populated just by bandits. They're pretty easy to stealth-kill, and soon we've arrived at Alain DuFont. Now I have a problem with Alain that I've never been able to figure out. According to uesp.net, you're supposed to be able to talk to him like any contract victim where you get the three options, one of which is "(remain silent)". However, for me Alain always turns hostile as soon as he sees me. Even Pacify doesn't help the situation. So I'm not sure what the problem is, but in any case he's easy to kill and we collect his soul.
We're far from done though, as we have to complete the entire dungeon for Lost to the Ages. The rest of the first zone is just standard Dwemer stuff - automatons and traps - and is pretty easy. The second zone, however, is a giant Falmer slog yet again. Honestly it's not bad though, even though Falmer hives are my least favorite part of the game. The first part is a giant cavern that has to be navigated around, then after a short passage of Dwemer traps we arrive at the final chamber where there's a puzzle to solve. We have to find and remove the junk that's blocking several gears around the room that are preventing the lever that lowers the bridge from working. It's not hard to figure out, but it is unique in the game and thus a neat addition.
After taking out the final centurion, we move into the final room where the Aetherium shard is located, as well as the Raldbthar entrance to Blackreach and the elevator back to the surface. We open up the Blackreach entrance just to say that we did, then we hop the elevator to the top of the mountain where we clear out a little more loot. Since we're already at the 90 minute mark we'll save the sort n' sell for next time.
