The Pale is roughly 'L' shaped, and we've explored everything in the top part of the 'L', so today we move south to work on the bottom part. We start by fast traveling back to the Shrine of Mehrunes Dagon, as the previous southern limit of our exploration is the road that runs past it and the nearby Lord Stone.

We start by exploring the high plateau to the south of the Shrine. Here we discover a cache of treasure that isn't even marked as a secondary location - a small shrine up against the mountain contains a number of potions, gems, and other loot. As we continue south we decide to preemptively take care of the dragon at Skyborn Altar below it. He would aggro us anyway when we got close enough, so it's better to take the battle to him first. We silently slide down the mountain behind him, and in an epic moment we one-shot him with a dual dagger backstab. He goes plowing into the side of the mountain when he lands, causing his corpse to tumble down the mountain. We then amusingly have to chase it down the mountainside for the loot all while absorbing his soul.

Continuing back on the plateau, we discover a couple of secondary locations. The first is a small shrine of Mara at the head of a trail leading up from Whiterun hold. The second is one we've visited before: A Bloody Trail, where blood stains on the ground near a dead elf lead us to the body of a second dead elf, who previously was holding a treasure map.

We work our way east, following the trails that run by Stonehill Bluff and down to Volunruud - although calling them trails is a little generous, as they're very faint. This part of the world is rather hard to systematically explore due to the lack of easy boundaries to follow, but ultimately we explore everything down to the snow line, which roughly marks the border with Whiterun. We then use the road running south from Stonehill Bluff as well as the path running from Fort Dunstad to the Tower of Mzark as the eastern boundary of our exploration.

We stop just outside Stonehill Bluff, and next time we'll pick up by moving further east.
