Previously, Davilas reached Valerica's Study in the Volkihar Ruins and helped Serana open a portal to the Soul Cairn. Starting the quest "Beyond Death", he began exploring the Soul Cairn. He also began a couple of quests. "Impatience of a Saint" involves finding the ten missing pages of Saint Jiub's Opus for Jiub, a soul trapped in the Soul Cairn. Davilas has already found half of them so far. Davilas also has "Find Arvak's skull in the Soul Cairn". Arvak is the horse of a soldier trapped in the Soul Cairn.

Davilas resumes at a soul well just south of Jiub's location in the east of the Soul Cairn. Just beside the soul well, Davilas finds "Jiub's Opus (Page 5)".

Davilas returns to the top of the building west of Jiub's location and claims one of three Reaper Gem Fragments from the chest.

Heading to the north-center of the Soul Cairn, Davilas finds Valerica trapped behind a barrier. Valerica and Serana have an extensive conversation. Valerica does not like the fact that Davilas is a vampire-hunter. However, she tells him how to bring down the barrier. Davilas must defeat the three Boneyard Keepers scattered around the Soul Cairn.

East from Valerica's prison, Davilas finds the location of Arvak's skull in a small circular building. The souls around it are turned to Mistmen. Davilas must defeat the Mistmen and "Retrieve Arvak's skull".

After defeating the Mistmen, Davilas acquires Arvak's Skull. Then, he must "Return Arvak's skull".

The soul of Arvak's owner is now a short distance to the east. When Davilas reports to this soul, he teaches Davilas the spell "Summon Arvak". Davilas can now summon the skeletal Arvak to serve as his steed, either in the Soul Cairn or wherever he can use a horse in the world of the living. This concludes the Arvak objectives.

A short distance to the northeast, Davilas finds an altar. At the base of a pedestal, he finds "Jiub's Opus (Page 7)" for Jiub's quest. Also, on the pedestal, he finds "Spell Tome: Conjure Mistman".

Northwest of the altar, a teleporter takes Davilas to a building where he will find one of the Keepers. In my game session, this Keeper was an archer.

In a building directly west of this Keeper's lair, Davilas finds a second Reaper Gem Fragment in a chest beneath another large soul gem.

In a building on the hill just to the southwest, Davilas finds "Jiub's Opus (Page 4)" in front of another chest.

Just to the northwest of Valerica's prison, Davilas finds a chest at the base of a destroyed wall. In front of this chest, he finds "Jiub's Opus (Page 2)".

To the west, there is a building with a large soul gem above the chest on the roof.

A little farther west, there is a building with two closed gates. On the roof, there is another chest below a large soul gem. On the floor by this chest, Davilas finds "Jiub's Opus (Page 9)". He has now found all ten pages! He must return them to Jiub. Also, in the chest, Davilas finds the Soul Essence Gem. When taken, this item removes the Weakened Soul effect that Davilas suffered when Serana soul-trapped him so he could enter the Soul Cairn. Davilas also gets a Black Soul Gem.

In a building to the west, Davilas discovers another Keeper. In my game, this Keeper wielded a mace and a shield.

The southwest gate of this building can be opened by hitting the green circular switches with magic. Beyond the gate, a chest underneath a large soul gem contains Davilas's third Reaper Gem Fragment. Yay!

Due east from this chest, on an altar in a graveyard, Davilas finds "Spell Tome: Conjure Boneman".

Davilas returns to Jiub in the eastern part of the Soul Cairn and turns in all ten pages of Jiub's Opus. "Impatience of a Saint" complete! Jiub rewards him with the complete "Saint Jiub's Opus" and, more importantly, the Locket of Saint Jiub. The Locket of Saint Jiub is Light Armor neckwear that increases the wearer's carry weight capacity by 50 and Stamina by 50. Very handy!

Next time, Davilas will take out the last Keeper and then return to Valerica.
