Slipskate Slope - Make the Lighthouse Shine: Like most first shines at islands, this is a very straightforward objective - you need only get to the other side of the long raised sloping sections on this island. Though you can take the pace at your own leisure, it’s best that you steal a Kuribo’s Skate from the middle of the starting area, and use it to glide over the spikes. Once you reach the second area, try to steer as best you can to the middle to avoid hitting the spikes on either side of the tube. When you jump to the third section, you’ll have the opportunity to take several courses - move fast enough and you can skate along the top, or you can take the second tube full of spikes, or even skate around the sides of it. The last jump will lead straight down to the lighthouse, where the Cat Shine awaits you.
Slipskate Slope - Blue Coin Bustle: After leaving and returning to Slipskate Slope, you’ll find a blue button you can ground pound at the entrance - this will start a timed event to collect every blue coin you can find as quickly as possible. The first 9 blue coins will appear in almost a straight line, and you’ll want to use Kuribo’s Skate to quickly get them before time runs out and make the first jump.The next group of coins include four different lines - several of which are on floating cloud platforms through the revolving tunnel, and you’ll need to avoid the first ramp but then carefully navigate through the tunnel to get each coin, and then avoid the last ramp to claim the coins on the side. Once you drop down to the last big area with the second tube, make a careful run through the middle on your skate to weave left and right and get all the remaining coins - and don’t forget the last group right before the pedestal at the end. If you miss any, remember there’s a pipe cannon that can send you right back to the start.
Slipskate Slope - Key to the Cat Shine: Once you leave and return to Slipskate Slope after claiming the second Cat Shine, you’ll find a large blue cage holding the Cat Shine, and you’ll have to find the key hidden somewhere on the island. The key enough is easy to find - it’s located just before the lighthouse at the end of the long slope that makes up the island, but it’s a lot harder to find a way back to the cage. You can’t swim with the key, nor take any sort of pipe cannon. Instead, run back up towards the slope you dropped down from and stick to the right wall to find a small ledge you can run along. Run all the way along this lower ledge, and you’ll find a series of blocks at the end to start jumping up to one of the higher platforms.Once you get up to the slope platform, look along the wall for more blocks you can use to navigate up the ramps and back to the cage to claim the Cat Shine.
Slipskate Slope - Five Cat Shine Shards: This Cat Shine can be obtained at any point while exploring Slipskate Slope, but you’ll need to track down each of the red shard coins to find this Shine. The first can be found right at the start of the slope, floating on one of several Goomba Stacks that patrol around Kuribo’s Skate. The second shard is located just a bit down the slope, but you’ll either need a bit of a speed boost and jump using Kuribo’s Skate, or the tanooki suit to get enough air time to reach it. Another shard is located close by, inside the first spiky tunnel. You can use the skate for a bit more traction, or simply sprint through and try to hug the left side without hitting the spikes to grab the shard. As with the second shard, the fourth shard is located off a slope that you may want to use Kuribo’s Skate at the top of the slope to reach, or get extra air time with a tanooki suit. Leap off of the slope to the top of the second spiky tunnel and clear out the enemies up here to reach the shard without falling off. The last shard is also located off a ramp jump - the last one leading down to the lighthouse below. Use the speed boost and Kuribo’s Skate - or the tanooki suit - to make sure you grab it on the way down.
