Species name: Argiope aurantia.
A yellow garden spider, writing spider etc., in a thrilling scene wrapping and biting a grasshopper - undeterred despite at one point a section of her web broke under the force of the epic struggle and both predator and prey were literally hanging by a single thread before the spider secured her meal with a final injection of venom and made a new string back to her command stabilimentum to find it again (presumably after its insides turn to pulp).
And yes, it was _I_ who put the victim here in harm’s way. Death to King Grasshopper.
