Disclaimer: Many things including the minimap, stalagtites, and the modded animals are from several other mods that don't belong to me; there likely weren't meant to be any ducks in the Stygian marsh when I was making it - I just had whatever mods I last used turned on to make sure it loaded correctly. A list of mods that are most likely the ones visible here is at the bottom of this description.

This is a Nether/Alternate dimension mod I started working on the last time I played Minecraft, which was between Java Edition 1.16.4 & 1.16.5 (over a year and a half ago from now). It was for another alternate dimension, the Fifth Circle of Hell, Stygia, which I imagine as a swampy demiplane where the river Styx dominates and in many places runs relatively shallow (and often very cold). Mostly I wanted an alternative Nether plane that wasn't completely inhospitable, and more like just a weird alien dimension with different "rules." This wouldn't replace the normal Nether, just exist alongside it in the same world.

Obviously it's mostly just a roofless and water-rather-than-lava version of the Nether, though I did start making new textures (mostly they were purple palette swaps, never implemented) and biomes to have a few low-altitude areas for the swamp-feel and snowy/icy places (not sure why I couldn't get it to rain or snow this time, but relatively-earthlike weather was also intended). Though the sky was not going to stay totally blank, I kind of love how it looks here. Definitely disorienting and somewhat alien.

I don't know whether I'll ever go back and work on it some more. Just before I quit playing Minecraft I nearly had a different mod finished involving titanium that I would probably go back and try to salvage before this one, but it's been like three major updates since then so I'm not sure how much will still work.
