*Extra Details:*

*Why:* This was a nearby greenway I’d walk past to get food and I always hated how 0 people cared for it. I decided I wanted to make it better using my Ecological Restoration background.
*Ecological Reasoning:* While Blackberries are delicious the Himalayan variety are highly invasive in North America. While birds and bees might get food out of them, because they’re so invasive they became a monoculture (only plant growing) which is a bad thing. Put it this way imagine if you could buy plenty of food but only for 1 month out of the year. Not great. This is why planting a variety of plants that flower and fruit at different times of the year so animals have a more consistent food source is far more beneficial. Which is what I’ve done here.

*Plant Choice:* I’ve gone for plants that produce large flower clusters as much as possible or faster growing species like the willow. (It’s also looks nicer for the local residents)

*Reception:* Every one of the local residence who have passed by have thanked me for doing this. They’re glad someone finally started taking care of this small public greenspace.

*Other Notes:* I’m glad I started doing this too because in addition to several broken bottles I found a couple of needles and as a Diabetic myself, I don’t think someone was taking insulin here. Now the dogs and kids who play here don’t have to worry.

And yes I did ask permission to work on this.
