Not all world maps need to be gigantic. Sometimes the project will call for a smaller and much more condensed over world, so it is important to know how to work on a smaller scale.
Map creation takes practice and time. Sometimes, a lot of time. It is an acquired skill that only comes with time. That being said, studying the work of others is a fun and fantastic way to learn how to do it yourself. Perhaps this will teach you some new techniques that you can apply to your own game development project, whether it is within RPG Maker, Unity, Game Maker, Clickteam Fusion or some other game engine.
