When you are on the ledge, if you press Away or Down, you immediately let go of the ledge and lose any remaining ledge invincibility.

However, some characters are lower than others on the first frame of vulnerability. Character can be put into three main categories:

Characters that can be hit by pretty much any Down-Tilt or Down-Smash, characters that can only be hit by moves that hit below the ledge, and characters that can't really be hit by anything from on-stage.

Most characters don't have grounded moves that hit below the ledge, so the second category of characters are quite safe against all but a few opponents.

Lists of characters in each category can be found in the video description.

Can be hit by the average D-Tilt/D-Smash: Bowser Jr., Charizard, Donkey Kong, Dr. Mario, Duck Hunt, Falco, Greninja, Jigglypuff, Link, Kirby, Lucina, Luigi, Mario, Marth, Mega Man, Meta Knight, Mii Brawler, Mii Gunner, Mii Swordsman, Olimar, Pac-Man, Pikachu, R.O.B., Rosalina, Sonic, Toon Link, Villager

Can only be hit by moves hitting under the ledge: Fox, Ganondorf, Ike, Little Mac, Lucario, Lucas, Ness, Palutena, Peach, Robin, Roy, Sheik, Shulk, Wario, Wii Fit Trainer, Yoshi, Zelda, Zero Suit Samus

Basically cannot be hit by an on-stage opponent: Bowser, Captain Falcon, Dark Pit, Diddy Kong, King Dedede, Mewtwo, Mr. Game and Watch, Pit, Ryu, Samus
