SMB: The Lost Levels (NES) World 9-4 (Mario Game)
0This is the World 9-4 Level from Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels for the Nintendo Entertainment System.
This is a short level with few enemies and obstacles. It's back to underwater mechanics as you swim around a level with a dark background. You will find some Japanese characters spelled out using blocks across the most of the level. These characters translate to "Arigato!", which means "Thanks!" in Japanese. Well... their welcome.
After clearing this level, you will start back at the World 9-1 level again. The game will loop the World 9 Levels endlessly until you get a game over. I decided not to take it any further and wasted my remaining lives. The game over screen of World 9 has a message from the developers. They almost sound like they care, which is impossible given the state of this game.
If you notice, there is now a star in the title board on the title screen now. If you beat the game EIGHT TIMES, and make EIGHT STARS appear on the title screen, you will be treated to another secret. Oh, boy... who would ever want to play this game eight times? You'd have to be a nerd!
