🇸🇰 SMEP PP 01: Part 4 [TCE #0464]
Today we have a quick look at the main board and check a few pins on the 8080 - nothing obviously working, including the clock ... probably because the crystal is missing! Duh.
I also checked the heat being generated using an IR imager.
Before further troubleshooting, I dismantled the keyboard & motherboard to give them a good clean, removing the fine silt-like material on them.
Finally, I ... ahem ... accidentally opened up one of the key switch mechanisms showing how it works inside.
I'll need to do some research to try to understand where to begin troubleshooting - I guess adding the crystal (16MHz?) back will be an excellent start.
An excellent set of re-drawn schematics can be found here:

From Part 1:
SMEP = Systém Malých Elektronických Počítačov (Small Electronic Computer System), and
PP 01 = Personálny Počítač (Personal Computer).
It was developed at the Computing Technology Research Institute (Výskumnom Ústave Výpočtovej Techniky = VÚVT) in Žilina and manufactured at the Computing Technology Plant (Závodoch Výpočtovej Techniky = ZVT) in Banská Bystrica (now in independent Slovakia).
A good source of information & emulator:
