Smod Arcade is a remake of The_Commander's long-dead SMOD: Deathmatch, it is a Singleplayer mod that aims to emulate a Multiplayer experience. Arcade is heavily RNG-based, every match starts you off with random weapons in a random map with 1 of 4 random gamemodes to play.

Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch are self-explanatory, and the characters you fight against and alongside are randomized each match along with the number of DM combatants, their health, and the weapons they carry.

The teams in Team Deathmatch are all factions of similarly-themed characters, the size of both teams is randomized between 6 to 16 with a kill limit that will scale itself accordingly. Currently, there are 32 possible teams for the RNG to select for TDM matches all with their own names and character rosters.

Next on the list is Zombie Survival, where the player's objective is to help the other survivors score more kills than the zombies do before the random round timer reaches zero. All of the Survivors will do the best they can to link up with the player and follow them around the map during the match, and the zombies and survivors spawn with random health values. The Zombie limit in ZS is 3x the random survivor count, and they receive a health bonus that is approximately half the survivors' kill count to keep things balanced. ZS includes all of the zombie classes available in SMOD, and npc_zombie2 has several classes that are all hard-hitting:

The Slayer - A withered charple with a blade and hook for arms and harpoons for legs, they are the fastest zombie subclass that the Survivors will encounter and are capable of cutting down groups of them at an alarming rate.

The Hulk - The Hulk from Zombie Master has been implemented they are a bit faster than the standard zombies are and have all the enhanced movement capabilities built into the zombie2 NPC.

The Not-So-Poisonous Zombie - A poison zombie that stands upright and attacks by charging straight into the survivors

The Gonome/Zombie Assassin - The biggest and baddest of the zombie2 subclasses, the Zombie Assassin towers over everyone else on the map and is the hardest-hitting of all of the zombie2 subclasses.



All NPCs from the described modes above have a chance of spawning with random powerups, which are super speed, spawning with an invisibility cloak, and spawning with VERY high HP, which turns them red to convey that they are priority targets.

Lastly, the 2nd new gamemode introduced in this update is known as Invasion, a class-based mode that pits an allegiance of 4 alien species against the Blue Army, with each CLASS behaving differently in combat and spawning with class-specific health and equipment.

The Commandos are the Alien equivalent to the Human Team's SMG Grunt class, using the the Alien Commando model from TF2 Invasion. They spawn with 125 HP and are equipped with laser rifles and plasma shotguns.

Next up is the Shocktrooper from Opposing Force with 200 HP, their Shock Rifles are very powerful and they are capable of using squad tactics in groups. Shocktroopers normally prefer to hang back from vantage points and lay down suppressing fire for the other aliens. They also have a rare chance to spawn with the plasma shotgun.

The Panthereye is an Alien Class that specializes in Close Quarters Combat/Melee. They have a very high move speed and are capable of pouncing at humans from long distances. Panthereyes pose a significant threat to your allies and can reduce entire platoons of soldiers to just a few stragglers in less than a minute if the space is tight enough. They spawn in pairs and have 150 HP.

The Alien Grunt is the Aliens' Heavy Class, they spawn with very powerful weapons like the Laser Minigun from CS Online and the Devastator. Some Alien Grunts are also capable of deploying exploding headcrabs, but the exploding headcrabs they spawn are just as likely to go after the aliens as they are to attack the humans. The Alien Grunt is based on npc_combine_ace and spawns with 300 HP, making them formidable to fight against. Taking them on by yourself is not advisable, normally it's best to concentrate fire on them alongside the blue soldiers.

The Alien Assassin is the Alien Sniper Class, they are the weakest units on the field and carry laser rifles that are capable of doing a lot of chip damage.
