Smolderen and Marini's Gypsy Omnibus!
23I've been trying to figure out where I first stumbled on Gyspy.
It was either Heavy Metal or NBM's collections. Maybe both.
Marini has always been a good artist, having seen his work appear in the magazine before, but getting a chance to read this was pretty fun in a pulpy throwback sort of way.
I was floored by how much of a manga influence drips out of that first book though. It's ligne claire by way of Katsuhiro Otomo or Naoki Urasawa, and I absolutely love it.
