---Cake from Hell, fufufu----

Illbleed (イ\ルブリード) is a Survival-Horror video game developed and published by Crazy Games (formerly known as Climax Graphics) in Japan (but published by AIA in the US) for the Sega Dreamcast. It was released in Japan on March 29, 2001 and later in North America on April 16, 2001. Despite being financially unsuccessful, this game received a worldwide cult following for its notable combination of nonlinear gameplay elements (e.g. trap detection) and bizarre B-movie style comedy horror theme, dialogue and voice acting.

Illbleed with be 20 years old on March 29 as that's the release date for in Japan, or April 16 for the United States. Those with a keen sense of hearing might recognize a handful of familiar voices, as a decent chunk of the case did/would go onto doing the voices for Sonic the Hedgehog.

The only other game that Crazy Games published which was Blue Stinger back in 1999 (which I have an itch to play after Illbleed). AIA's other published include Dokapon: Monster Hunter for the GBA in 2003 and the latest being Monster! Bass Fishing for the GBA in 2004 and both according to my research are both defunct.

Illbleed doesn't focus much on combat vs other games of this genre, such as Resident Evil, however more on the finding and neutralizing traps and finding items to help survive. Not all fights are winnable or even required, as you can escape using the ladder if you mash the B button enough, (having the speed ladder helps). The game got an average 6ish review which nowadays means the game is garbage (since it isn't a 9), but back then, the game was a solid addition to those who enjoy horror (B-horror specifically), and exploration. This game also has multiple endings and requires multiple play-throughs to do such.

This level is a bit more unique and different compared to what has been played. They give you the prize money and you can keep all of it assuming you can make it through the store without triggering the traps and therefore losing your money. Also with the two secret safes, I get how the first code is got, (a play on words), the second was kinda stretching it a little. (The answers will be different depending on the version you play). At the very least, you can make a lot of money that can be used to upgrade your characters, or revive them. Also we get our first gun for the level, which after messing around with it, if you hold the r button after you begin to fire, you can stop attacking and move around. This will be helpful for future fights.

Michel is actually pretty good for this level due to her high adrenaline stat, (really anyone is if you upgrade it), but baseline Michel and Eriko are top tier. The first Mary puzzle is a callback to Blue Stinger, the first game the game company made and there's an easter egg which I do show that has a character from that game in it.

The "meat and cockroach" puzzle punishes you for being to greedy (grabbing all 5 of each type of meat) and while I imagine you can survive the resulting encounter, you can easily reload a save and grab the bare minimal to pass.

The boss is something else, a nice relief knowing you had to deal with Mary and her shenanigans. Once again, if the boss has the infinite sign next to it's health bar, you are missing something or need to escape to continue the fight.

The jump-rope "puzzle" wasn't that bad, there's a small delay when after pressing the A button and, in this case Michel, the player character preparing and then jumping. At least they give you a save station right before it.
