SNES Final Fantasy V - Gil Turtle fight without getting countered
Emulator used:
BizHawk 2.10, BSNES+115 core
This fight was done in real time. This is mostly useful for anyone doing the Final Fantasy Four Job Fiesta subset on RetroAchievements and want an easy Gil Turtle victory if they happen to roll a Black Mage or Red Mage and are willing to grind out some Wall Ring/Reflect Ring drops from Reflect Knights in the Barrier Tower. Of course this is much faster with a Black Mage due to Ice 3/Blizzaga access although a Red Mage setup can potentially get away with not needing protection against ice damage (e.g. Ice Shield or Flame Ring) due to lower damage numbers that can simply be healed.
There's a glitch in the SNES, GBA, and presumably PSX versions of Final Fantasy V involving having a reflected spell hit both the enemy and a party member. I assume due to the interaction with a party member, enemy counter scripts get bypassed if a spell that targets all party members is reflected by some, but not all, targets. This enables a much safer Gil Turtle fight as it bypasses both the double Turtle counters that inflicts nasty status effects upon taking damage as well as Gil Turtle's Earthquake counter upon death. This strat is also technically usable on Omega but giving up haste is a lot riskier there.
